When I started Spacehuhn Technologies, I also created a new community server on Discord to enable a closer relationship with my community. Here's why you should join!
IMAGINE A PLACE where you can belong to a school club, a gaming group, or a worldwide art community. Where just you and a handful of friends can spend time together. A place that makes it easy to talk every day and hang out more often.
This is how Discord describes itself.
You can use it to chat with friends, create groups or have video calls. It runs in your browser, but you can also get it as a desktop and mobile app for all the major platforms.
Spacehuhn's Lab Server
The server has a few channels. There's a general text chat, a channel to share your pictures of your pets, and a place to share your own projects. There's also a whole section of help channels and a couple of voice channels if you want to hop on a call with someone.
Communication Tips
Some general tips I'd like to point out for everyone new to online communities:
- Try to only @ people if necessary. Nothing is more annoying than to get a ping at 12am from someone on a half-baked question that is impossible to answer in one message.
- Give something back. Share and encourage discussions. Don't just demand free tech support and then disappear.
- Be excellent to each other.
